Day 1: Arrival in Moshi
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport where our private transport will take you to your accommodation in Moshi. Spend the night relaxing and preparing for your upcoming adventure.
Day 2: Moshi to Rongai Gate (1,950m) - Simba Camp (2,600m)
After breakfast, you'll be driven to the Rongai Gate, where you'll complete park registration. Begin your trek through lush forest terrain, observing the diverse flora and fauna. Arrive at Simba Camp, where you'll spend the night surrounded by serene natural beauty.
Day 3: Simba Camp (2,600m) to Kikelewa Camp (3,600m)
Today’s hike takes you through the moorland zone, with stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. The ascent to Kikelewa Camp will offer you a glimpse of the majestic Mawenzi Peak. Enjoy dinner and rest at camp, acclimating to the increasing altitude.
Day 4: Kikelewa Camp (3,600m) to Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m)
Embark on a trek to Mawenzi Tarn Camp, passing through alpine desert landscapes. The camp, situated below the towering Mawenzi Peak, offers breathtaking views. This day allows you to acclimatize to the higher altitude and prepare for the challenging days ahead.
Day 5: Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m) to Kibo Hut (4,700m)
Ascend from Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Kibo Hut, crossing the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. The terrain changes from rocky to barren as you approach Kibo Hut. This camp will serve as your base for the final summit push.
Day 6: Summit Day - Kibo Hut (4,700m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) to Horombo Hut (3,720m)
Your summit attempt begins in the early hours of the morning. Climb the Western Breach to reach the summit, Uhuru Peak. Celebrate the achievement and take in the panoramic views before descending to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest.
Day 7: Horombo Hut (3,720m) to Mandara Hut (2,700m)
Descend from Horombo Hut through lush forested trails to Mandara Hut. Enjoy the change in scenery and the more temperate climate. This day allows your body to adjust back to the lower altitudes.
Day 8: Mandara Hut (2,700m) to Marangu Gate (1,800m)
Complete your descent to Marangu Gate. Collect your summit certificates and enjoy a celebratory meal. You’ll be transferred back to Moshi for your final night’s stay.
Day 9: Departure from Moshi
After breakfast, our transport will take you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure. Reflect on your incredible journey and the memories made on the Roof of Africa.
