Day 1: Arrival and Preparation
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where our team will transfer you to your accommodation in Moshi. Use this day to rest and acclimate to the altitude. We’ll conduct a briefing to review your gear and discuss the climb details. Enjoy a relaxing evening in Moshi as you prepare for the adventure ahead.
Day 2: Moshi to Londorossi Gate to Forest Camp
Transfer from Moshi to the Londorossi Gate for your official park entry. From there, begin your trek through lush rainforest to Forest Camp. The trail takes you through dense vegetation, offering a chance to spot unique wildlife and enjoy the serene forest environment. Settle in at Forest Camp for a restful night.
Day 3: Forest Camp to Shira Camp 1
Continue your ascent from Forest Camp to Shira Camp 1. As you climb, the landscape transitions from rainforest to heath and moorland. Enjoy panoramic views of the mountain and surrounding areas as you reach Shira Camp 1, where you’ll rest and acclimatize for the next stages of the climb.
Day 4: Shira Camp 1 to Shira Camp 2
Take a short hike from Shira Camp 1 to Shira Camp 2, allowing your body to acclimate further while enjoying the stunning views of the Shira Plateau. This day offers a chance to explore the expansive plateau and appreciate the unique alpine scenery. Spend the night at Shira Camp 2, ready for the more challenging days ahead.
Day 5: Shira Camp 2 to Barranco Camp via Western Breach
Depart from Shira Camp 2 and trek towards Barranco Camp, passing through the dramatic Western Breach. This section of the route involves a steep climb and offers some of the most breathtaking views of the mountain’s ice fields and lava formations. Arrive at Barranco Camp, situated beneath the impressive Barranco Wall.
Day 6: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Today’s trek involves ascending the Barranco Wall, a thrilling and rewarding climb with stunning vistas. After conquering the wall, descend into the Karanga Valley and continue to Karanga Camp. This camp provides a great vantage point for panoramic views and further acclimatization before your final push to the summit.
Day 7: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Ascend from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp, the base camp for your summit attempt. The terrain becomes more rugged as you approach Barafu Camp, situated at a higher altitude. Take the afternoon to rest and prepare for the summit bid, which will begin in the early hours of the following morning.
Day 8: Barafu Camp to Summit and Descent to Mweka Camp
Begin your summit attempt early in the morning, aiming to reach Uhuru Peak by sunrise. Experience the exhilaration of standing at the highest point in Africa, with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Afterward, descend to Mweka Camp, where you’ll celebrate your achievement and rest for the night.
Day 9: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
Complete your trek with a descent from Mweka Camp to the Mweka Gate. At the gate, you’ll receive a summit certificate to commemorate your climb. Following the ceremony, you’ll be transferred back to your accommodation in Moshi for a well-deserved rest and to reflect on your remarkable journey.
