Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be warmly greeted by Active Planet Safaris representative who will assist with your transfer to your accommodation in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you may have some free time to relax and acclimate before your safari adventure begins. Arusha is a bustling city and the starting point for many safaris in Northern Tanzania, making it an essential part of your journey.

Morning: After a hearty breakfast, your Active Planet safaris guide will pick you up from your lodge. The drive to Tarangire National Park takes approximately two and a half hours on well-maintained tarmac roads.
Tarangire National Park is named after the Tarangire River, which is the lifeline for wildlife in the region during the dry season. The park is renowned for its large elephant herds and distinctive Baobab trees, some of which are over a thousand years old. It’s also a haven for bird watchers, with more breeding species found here than anywhere else in the world. Look out for giraffes, bushbucks, hartebeests, and a variety of predators including lions and leopards.
Lunch: Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated spot within the park, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature.
Afternoon: After your game drive, you’ll transfer to your accommodation in Karatu.

Morning: After breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro Crater, a geological marvel and one of the most iconic wildlife viewing areas in Africa. The crater’s steep walls enclose a rich and varied ecosystem, providing some of the best wildlife viewing opportunities in Tanzania.
Ngorongoro Crater was formed millions of years ago when a massive volcano erupted and collapsed. It is now a lush haven for wildlife, including large populations of wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, and over 500 bird species. The crater is also a prime location to spot the endangered black rhino.
Lunch: Enjoy lunch inside the crater, taking in the spectacular surroundings.
Afternoon: After a full afternoon of exploration, head to your accommodation in Karatu.
